Dr.
Teitel obtained his MD degree and pursued residency training
at the University of Toronto. He was a research fellow at
Harvard University, under the supervision of Dr. Robert Rosenberg,
where he worked on novel radioimmunoassay for the detection
of coagulation activation.
Dr. Teitel is a
Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and the
Division Head of Hematology and Oncology at St. Michael’s
Hospital, a fully-affiliated teaching hospital. He is Medical
Director of the Hemophilia Comprehensive Care Program, and
of the clinical Program in Specialized Complex Care. He is
President of the Canadian Hematology Society, and is past
President of both the Association of Hemophilia Clinic Directors
of Canada (AHCDC) and of the Hemophilia and Thrombosis Research
Society of North America (HTRS). His publications have focused
on hemophilia and related disorders of hemostasis and thrombosis.
