Membership Information

There are three membership categories within the Canadian Hematology Society.

Active Members
Are physicians engaged in the practice of clinical or laboratory hematology in Canada or Canadian physicians engaged in such practice, or persons with university degrees making continuing contributions to research in physiology or pathology in hematology in Canada may apply to become active members. In appropriate cases, the requirement for a university degree or other qualifications may be waived if in the opinion of the Executive Committee the candidate is making significant continuing contributions to science. Active Members may request transfer to the status of Emeritus Member at the age of 65 or for other adequate reasons. Only Active Members shall vote, hold office and pay dues. To apply for Active membership, please mail or email the Membership Application to the Society's Membership Head office in Ottawa.

Associate Members
Are Fellows-in-training may apply to become Associate Members of the Society and will not be required to pay dues until completion of training.

Emeritus Members
Are individuals at the age of 65 or those who were active Members and request a transfer of status with adequate reasons.

Dues
Once the Canadian Hematology Society applications have been approved, new members will be notified of their selection and invoiced for their dues. Membership dues are paid annually and cover the calendar year, from January 1 to December 31. CHS members are required to pay their membership for each year in succession. Members who let their membership lapse must pay their dues for the lapsed year(s) or reapply.
